Analysis
Aerofirma has approached the City seeking to build nine hangars at the Grand Prairie Municipal Airport. They have requested that the City construct taxiway access and a taxilane between proposed Hangar Row 24 South and Row 25 South.
The City has received a proposal from KSA to do the engineering and design work for the City's portion of the project. KSA has also proposed to provide project management for the construction of the taxilane and taxiway extension. The estimated cost will be $112,000. The scope of the design work will include site designation for one area that has been requested for future development by Timeless Hangars, Inc.; design of a taxiway extension and a new taxilane between the proposed hangars; and proposed sites for each of the nine hangars to be built by Aerofirma . The timeline for the engineering is estimated at no less than nine weeks from issuance of a Notice to Proceed. The time required for construction administration will be contingent upon the engineering and construction schedule for the improvements to be done by Aerofirma.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the contract with KSA Engineers for the South Development Project is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating $112,000 from the unobligated fund balance in the Airport Capital Projects Fund (505292) to WO# 01511603 (South Development Project).
