Analysis
The challenge to remain current in the application and integration of technology that increases the administrative efficiency of the Grand Prairie Police Department remains a top priority to Staff. Over the course of recent months the Department has researched a software solution to replace its current paper-based payroll leave request process. Some other cities using the software are: Longview, TX; Vallejo, CA; Santa Barbara, CA: Gardenia, CA and Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

After perusing multiple layers of information, the Department selected In-Time Solutions (ISE) to provide two (2) add-on modules to its existing scheduling software. These add-on modules are upgrades to the existing software and are propiertary to the current system. One (1) module allows for paperless leave requests for and paperless posting of overtime opportunities for all employees. The second (2) module will provide for integration with the City’s current Lawson payroll software. We have been in talks with the vendor for a few months, and are currently testing a demo version of the software, and are pleased with the results. We anticipate being fully functional within six months of the purchase date, due to the complexity of integration with Lawson. Finally, the selection of the ISE software provides for an efficient transition to a paperless system without placing an additional burden on current users by introducing an unfamiliar software system.
The Finance and Government Committee reviewed this item on July 14, 2015, and recommended that it be forwarded to the City Council.
