Analysis
Based on the ever-increasing needs of the growing City, in combination with the age and lack of modern provisions within the current Fire Station 4 and Fire Station 6 facilities, new facility development and focused facility enhancements are critical to maintaining the achieved standards and established quality associated with the 100+ year old Grand Prairie Fire Department.
Based on past experience working closely with the City of Grand Prairie and Fire Department staff on the new Fire Station 1, Fire Station 7 and Fire Station 10, Komatsu Architecture was requested to provide a complete design services fee proposal for a new Fire Station 4 and an addition to Fire Station 6 for consideration and recommendation to City Council.
Komatsu Architecture has submitted a total fee proposal in the amount of $458,261 that provides for existing conditions site surveying, geotechnical investigations with corresponding reports, furnishings selection, specification and administration and full design and construction administrative services through complete project construction. The overall proposal includes all necessary design consultants beyond those provided by the City. In addition to the design team fee proposal provided, staff is recommending a 5% design contingency in the amount of $22,913 which results in a total request of $481,174.
