Analysis

These vehicles will replace existing vehicles in the fleet according to the city equipment replacement schedule as approved in the FY 2016 Approved Budget. Purchases are as summarized below:

1.  $77,557.60 for one (1) 2016 International TerraStar with Knapheide body will be an improvement for Fleet Services.

2. $144,330.84 for one (1) 2015 International 7400 Work Star Grapple Truck will be replacing a 2006 GMC 8500 Grapple Truck for Public Works- Streets.

Chapter 271.102 of the Local Government Code authorizes local governments to participate in a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or local cooperative organization.  In lieu of competitive bidding, items and services may be purchased through such agreements as the agreements have already been bid by the sponsoring entity or agency.

 

Buyboard saves money by pooling the impressive purchasing power of their members, including hundreds of school districts, municipalities, counties,other local governments and nonprofit across Texas. 

 

Buyboard contract 430-13 began December 1, 2013 and will expire November 30, 2016.

 

Financial Consideration

Funding for the vehicles in the amount of $221,888.44 is available as follows:

 

1. $77,557.60 is available in the Fleet Services Fund (225510-68330) Finance

2. $144,330.84 is available in the Solid Waste Equipment Acquisition Fund (304010-68330) Public Works
