Analysis
The City has recently extended Lake Ridge Pkwy from IH 20 to Great Southwest Pkwy. The attached ordinance establishes the following speed limit.
45 mph at all times for: Lake Ridge Pkwy - Polo Road to IH 20
Accepted traffic engineering principals recommend that speed limits be established by engineering analysis and roadway design. Based on the design characteristics, the level of adjacent developments, and the existing posted speed limit of 45 mph on Lake Ridge Pkwy from Joe Pool Lake Bridge to Polo Road, staff recommends that the 45 mph speed limit be established on Lake Ridge Pkwy from IH 20 to Polo as stated above.
Financial Consideration
The cost to install the Speed Limit signs will be absorbed into the current TxDOT contract for the Lake Ridge Parkway Extension Project.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING SCHEDULE II OF THE TRAFFIC REGISTER, ESTABLISHING MAXIMUM SPEED LIMITS GREATER THAN 30 MPH (45 MPH SPEED LIMIT ON LAKE RIDGE PARKWAY FROM POLO ROAD TO IH20); REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND TO BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE, APPROVAL AND PUBLICATION
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT Schedule II - Establish Maximum Speed Limits greater than 30 mph shall be amended by adding the following:
