The current ordinance does not allow for any pushcarts within the City. This change will allow the sale of frozen desserts from pushcarts in the City.
Financial Consideration
This ordinance will generate a permit fee of $130 per cart.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING ARTICLES II AND XII OF THE “HEALTH AND SANITATION” CHAPTER OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO PROVIDE FOR THE PERMITTING AND REGULATION OF ICE CREAM PUSHCARTS; AND TO BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE, APPROVAL AND PUBLICATION.
WHEREAS, the Code of Ordinances of the City provides for standards for the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Grand Prairie; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to allow the vending of frozen dessert products from pushcarts; and
WHEREAS, additional regulations are needed to insure that pushcart vendors operate in a safe and sanitary manner.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1: That Section 13-20(a)(6) is hereby amended as follows:
Sec. 13-20(a)(6).
(6) The fee to operate a motorized mobile packaged food unit to vend commercially prepared, prepackaged foods or fresh produce in its natural state shall be:
(A) Hot Truck - Two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00)
(B) Cold Truck - Two hundred dollars ($200.00)
(C) Ice Cream Truck - One hundred and seventy five dollars ($175.00)
(D) Ice Cream Pushcart - One hundred and thirty dollars ($130.00)
SECTION 2: That Article XII is hereby amended in its entirety to read as follows:
