Analysis
The Street Division of Public Works follows up to make permanent repairs on pavement cuts made by the Utilities Division in the course of their maintenance activities on the water and sewer lines. Each year we appropriate funds for this purpose from the Water Utility. Since this expenditure is highly unpredictable, depending on the number of repairs that need to be made, it is impossible to fund the account with any degree of accuracy. We originally funded $500,000 for FY16 but are already near fully expended in this account. In order to continue the repairs for the remainder of the year, we are asking for an additional appropriation of $500,000.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the increased pavement cut repairs is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating $500,000 from the unobligated fund balance in the Water Capital Projects Fund (500592) to WO #01608003 (FY16 Utility Cuts) 63030 (Streets, Roads, Highway Maintenance).

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AMENDING THE FY 2015/2016 CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS BUDGET BY TRANSFERRING AND APPROPRIATING $500,000 FROM THE UNOBLIGATED FUND BALANCE IN THE WATER CAPITAL PROJECTS FUND (500592) TO WO #01608003 (FY16 UTILITY CUTS) 63030 (STREETS, ROADS, HIGHWAY MAINTENANCE).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. THAT THE FY 2015/2016 Capital Improvements Projects Budget be amended by transferring and appropriating $500,000 from the unobligated fund balance in the Water Capital Projects Fund (500592) to WO #01608003 (FY16 Utility Cuts) 63030 (Streets, Roads, Highway Maintenance)
