Analysis

The EZ Breaker is used for various Public Works (Streets) projects to efficiently break up concrete for repairs and replacement for both sidewalks and streets.  The 2016  EZ Breaker Model 650 will replace an existing breaker in the fleet according to the city replacement schedule and the 2016 EZ Breaker Model 1100 is an improvement to the City's fleet. The purchase of both EZ BREAKERS is included in the approved FY 2015/2016 General Fund (Streets); and Risk Management Fund (Streets) budget.

 

EZ Breaker is the only provider of the mobile hydraulic breaker.  Local government code 252 provides an exemption from the competitive bid process when an item is available from only one source.

 

Financial Consideration

Funding is available in the following accounts totaling $53,747:

 

1.                     $31,998 in the General Fund (251210-68300) Public Works (Streets);

      2.   $21,749 in the Risk Management Fund (212010-68360) Public Works (Streets).
