Analysis
The Information Technology department is requesting approval to implement upgrades to our City Hall data center. These upgrades would increase overall storage and server capacity, allow for physical server consolidation with virtualization, and provide disaster recoverability for servers between the two main data centers at City Hall and Public Safety Building.
Upgrades include a 200 TB EMC VNX 5400 SAN, Cisco UCS 5108 Blade Server Chassis with 4 servers and 2 fabric interconnect switches, VMWare licensing for server virtualization and site recovery, and professional services for integration.
Staff is recommending NetSync Network Solutions in the amount of $377,465.61 for equipment and professional services. NetSync Network Solution is on the DIR-TSO-2542 expires 5/5/2018; DIR-SDD-2136 expires 4/19/2017 and DIR-TSO-2634 expires 9/10/2018.
Implementation would begin immediately and would be completed by September 1st. Users would see no downtime.
Financial Consideration
Funding for a contract with NetSync Network Solutions for $377,465.61 is available in FY 2014/2015 Information Technology Fund (153210-68410).
