Analysis

On April 23, 2019, we experienced a water break on the 8" water line on the 5800 block of Tory Drive. The water break was a result of contractor damage. We do not have in-house capability to perform this type of repair,  therefore North Texas Contracting, Inc. performed the reparations.

Since lack of this connection disrupts water service and fire flow for the entire subdivision, it was imperative that we reestablish the line as soon as possible.

Local government code 252 allows for an exemption from the bid process for procurement necessary because of unforeseen damage to public machinery, equipment, or other property. Due to the critical nature of this emergency, we requested and were approved to waive the normal bidding procedures and awarded contract to North Texas Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $94,045.

Financial Consideration

Funding for emergency purchase with North Texas Contracting, Inc. for the repair of a water main break on 5800 block of Tory Drive, in the amount of $94,045 is available in the FY 2018/2019 Water Wastewater Operating fund (361211) Water Mains Maintenance (63095) and will be charged accordingly.
