Analysis
The Motorola Software Upgrade agreement is required as part of an existing Communication Systems Agreement with City of Fort Worth in 2015. The Software Upgrade Agreement provides all of the agencies that connect to the Fort Worth Regional Radio System software upgrades for our P25 radio system. Grand Prairie’s portion of the Software Upgrade Agreement is $90,671 this will be a recurring cost until 2024.
This agreement is important to the P25 Radio System in order to maintain the reliability and interoperability of the City’s Radio System. This is also integral piece for maintaining interoperability with other Police, Fire and City agencies that are on the Fort Worth Regional Radio System.
As part of the Motorola Software Upgrade Agreement it entitles the City to upgraded hardware in the communications center and other system operating system upgrades. The City of Fort Worth is utilizing a 14% discount from Motorola to provide this agreement at a reduced rate for each entity that is part of the Fort Worth Regional Radio System.
