Analysis
The City approved a Master Inter-local agreement with the City of Fort Worth whereby the City could make use of all of that entities price agreement(s). The City of Fort Worth entered into a price agreement with MES of Houston, TX on January 11, 2012, and have exercised the option for additional renewals through January 10, 2016, for SCBA equipment and repairs. It is the Fire Department's recommendation to make a one-time purchase for replacement voice amplifiers and masks using this price agreement.
The Fire Department uses Scott Safety SCBA equipment. This equipment is used during fire fighting to provide breathable air to the fire fighters. The replacement of 69 voice amplifiers and 132 masks is a planned project for FY 2015/2016.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the purchase SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) voice amplifiers and masks at a total cost of $59,718.27 is available in the FY 2015/2016 Risk Fund (212010) clothing supplies (60280) for the replacement of voice amps and masks.
