The FY 2015 Budget allows for the replacement of fifteen (15) 2005 Ford CV Sedans with 2015 Chevrolet Tahoes and 2015 Chevrolet Caprices, the replacement of one (1) 2009 Harley Davidson Motorcycle through the Police Field Operations General Fund Budget, and the purchase of six (6) additional 2015 Chevrolet Tahoes through the Equipment Acquisition Funds.
The City of Grand Prairie Police Department currently utilizes vehicle mounted mobile video recording systems designed and manufactured exclusively by L-3 Communications Mobile-Vision, Inc. (L-3). In order to maintain the integrity of a departments system, L-3 does not allow distribution of their systems, spare parts and accessories through any other source. The City of Dallas has negotiated discounts with L-3 and this purchase price has been quoted utilizing the City of Dallas contract.
This purchase request includes eighteen (18) additional Flashback 3 in-car video systems for use in Chevrolet Tahoe and Caprice vehicles, and two (2) CycleVision 3 video systems that are compatible for use on motorcycles or watercraft. Additionally, if the order is placed by December 31, 2014, L-3 will provide twenty (20) BodyVision camera systems at no cost to the City through a promotional offer. If purchased at contract price instead of being received through the promotional offer, the BodyVision systems would cost the City an additional $9,980 plus shipping and handling.
