Analysis
Parks and Recreation Department has worked with Dallas County and Dallas Area Agency on Aging for the past 30 years mutually funding a senior meal program and transportation to the location where meals are provided.  For the last five years, staff has been working with the agencies to enhance and expand the program for our citizens, 60 years of age and older.

Financial Consideration
The program receives a partial reimbursement of costs from the Dallas Area Agency on Aging. Total funding amount for the senior meal program is $140,640 with an expected reimbursement of $86,732. The remaining funds come from program income, in-kind staff salaries and an approximate $10,000 contribution from the City. The transportation program is anticipated to cost $57,970 of which an approximate 31% or $17,999 will be reimbursed by the Dallas Area Agency on Aging.

Staff estimates serving 24,000 meals during FY 2014/2015. Reimbursement will be processed through Congregate Meals Grant Fund (FY15 Grant) and Special Program for the Aging (FY15 Grant).
