Analysis
Harbor Guard Boats only manufactures crafts for fire, patrol and defense purposes. They are the only vendor with 8' patented dive doors on both the port and starboard sides and a patented twin jet drive diverter pump system, there are no props on these engines. A diverter valve is used to divert power from one jet drive to the front deck gun for fire operations, using the other engine to maneuver the boat. This the safest and most complete fire/rescue boat that meets the department's needs.
Tools and equipment to complete the equipping of the boat will be purchased following Purchasing requirements and utilizing current price agreements.
It is the Fire Department's recommendation to purchase a 24 foot Firehawk 2426 Boat from Harbor Guard Boats. A prepayment of 50% at time of order is required by the vendor.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the purchase of one boat, tools and equipment in the amount of $185,000 is available in the Fire Capital Projects Fund (400591), WO #01100503 (FY 11 Fire Boat).
