Analysis
The EPIC's furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) was strategically procured through various sourcing methods. Many items were sourced through local, state, and national cooperative purchasing agreements saving the City money through the buying power of such programs. However, not all FF&E items were available through cooperative programs requiring the City's purchasing department to bid out a portion of the FF&E items for both the EPIC Waters & Recreation Center projects. City staff have previously brought before council a recommendation for the award of EPIC Waters' FF&E which was approved July 18, 2017. Similarly, on June 6, 2017 City Council awarded a contract to Marathon Fitness for cardio and other fitness equipment through a cooperative purchase agreement.
RFB#17133 is for the remaining EPIC Recreation Center's fitness equipment, which required to be competitively bid in accordance with local and state procurement laws. A total of twenty-eight (28) vendors reviewed the bid package and four (4) bid responses were received on August 22, 2017. The recommended low bid is Marathon Fitness in the amount of $112,612.00.
Financial Consideration
Funding for the equipment is available in the EPIC Capital Project Fund (320893) WO #01512003 (The EPIC), Office Furniture/Equip (68290).
