Analysis

The purchase of compound pharmaceutical vet drugs for the animal shelter and spay/neuter clinic is to prevent disease and the spread of disease in the shelter.  All animals sheltered are vaccinated upon entering the facility.  The spay/neuter clinic opened in July 2014 and since then all animals being adopted from Prairie Paws are sterilized and have a rabies vaccination.  The price agreement with Roadrunner Pharmacy will be utilized to purchase supplies needed for spay/neuter clinic operations, shelter vaccinations and ongoing expendable supplies.

Notice of bid #18073 was viewed by 17 vendors. There were no Grand Prairie vendors.   One bid was received from Roadrunner Pharmacy and meets specifications and is recommended for award.

This item will be on the Finance and Government Committee agenda on June 5, 2018.

Financial Consideration

Funding for the compound drugs are available in the FY 2017/2018 General Fund Budget, Animal Services Department (301110) Veterinarian Supplies (60235) and will be charged accordingly on orders through the end of the current fiscal year.  Funding for future fiscal years will be paid from that year’s approved budget.
