Analysis
Plans were developed by the Park Planning Division for improvements to the existing gardens area at the Summit, based on needs assessment of the users of that program. Bids were received at the office of the Purchasing Manager on March 17, 2015. The only bid received was from Parkscape Construction, Inc. The base bid and all alternates was less than the landscape architect's cost estimate for the project. A description of the base bid and alternates is listed below.

Base Bid: Construct raised masonry bed #1 and installation of pave stone as designated on landscape plans. Install sub-surface drainage system in existing bed #7.

Additive Alternate #1: Demolition of existing beds #2 and #3, construct raised bed #2 and installation of concrete pavers.

Additive Alternate #2: Demolition of existing bed #4, construction of raised masonry bed #3.

Additive Alternate #3: Excavate existing bed area, installation of sub-surface drainage and backfill with planting mix.

Additive Alternate #4: Excavate and remove existing decomposed granite walk surface and installation of pave stone in its place.

This proposed ordinance was presented and approved by the Finance and Government Committee on April 7, 2015.
