Analysis

The City of Grand Prairie has an initiative to install City wide building security to protect the citizens and employees of the City.  This will provide security for 5 new buildings and will improve and increase the security for two additional buildings.

Chapter 271.102 of the Local Government code authorizes local governments to participate in a cooperative purchasing program with another local government or local cooperative organization.  In lieu of competitive bidding, items and services may be purchased through such agreements as the agreements have already been bid by the sponsoring entity or agency.  The City of Grand Prairie has master inter-local cooperative agreements with various entities including H-GAC.

The H-GAC contract began May 1, 2015 and will expire April 30, 2018.

Financial Consideration

Funding for these security installations in the amount of $289,448.64 is available in the Capital Reserve Fund (402590); WO #01713203 (FY17 Building Security) Construction (68540).
