Analysis
Over the past couple of years the City staffs from Mansfield and Grand Prairie have been working together to resolve overlapping City limit line boundaries in the northeast portion of Mansfield. The boundary area in question is north of Lowe’s Farm subdivision and is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The current Mansfield City Limit Ordinance indicates the area is in Mansfield while Grand Prairie’s Ordinance indicates it is within the City of Grand Prairie.

In addition discussions have taken place concerning the relocation of east City Limit Line along Day Miar Road from the north City Limits to Low Branch Creek. The platting of tracts of land in Grand Prairie for the Mira Lagos Subdivision has placed right-of-way dedicated by the subdivisions for Day Miar Road within the City of Grand Prairie.

This ordinance requires approval from both Mansfield and Grand Prairie; the City of Mansfield has adopted and signed the joint ordinance.

The land in northeast boundary is floodway and floodplain and is owned by the US Army Corps of Engineers, thus has no taxable value. The City of Grand Prairie has installed walking and equestrian trails in this area. This ordinance clarifies that northeast area in question is in the City of Grand Prairie.

The current east City Limit line south of E. Broad Street is along the existing east right-of-way line of Day Miar Road. The Master Thoroughfare Plans calls for a total of 90’ feet of right-of-way for the future widening of Day Miar Road, as subdivisions in Grand Prairie develop and plat property this additional right-of-way dedication is within the City Limit line of Grand Prairie.
