Analysis

A review of the inspection report for Corn Valley Road bridge over Kirby Creek has revealed deficiencies to the approach slabs, bridge abutments, pedestrian walkway, and bridge railings.

 

Cobb Fendley & Associates, Inc. will provide Professional Engineering services for the design plans, specifications, estimates, and related documents for the bridge at Corn Valley Road over Kirby Creek.

 

Chapter 252, Section 22 of the Local Government Code allows for the exemption to competitive bidding when the expenditure is for Professional Services such as engineering services. Cobb, Fendley & Associates, Inc. engineering firm was selected as the most qualified professional due to their previous experience with the City and extensive engineering work regarding roadway bridge rehabilitation projects in the region.  

 

Financial Consideration

Funding for the new contract with Cobb Fendley & Associates, Inc. engineering in the amount of $ 78,582 is available in the Streets Capital Projects Fund (400192), WO #02006703 (FY20 City Bridges), 68450 (Engineering/Design).
