Analysis
Repair of the aging water and sewer systems in the City requires our utility crews to make a numerous of pavement cuts in order to make needed repairs. As soon as the repairs are finished, the hole is filled and temporarily patched with cold mix asphalt (asphalt that can be placed immediately without the usual heating and mixing process). We then come back at a later date and do a permanent repair of either hot mix asphalt or concrete depending on the type of roadway surface. Each year we budget monies in the Utility Funds to pay for such repairs. We have now exhausted the funds for the present year and need to appropriate additional funding in order to continue to make these needed repairs to the roadways.
Financial Consideration
Funding in the total amount of $300,000 is available as follows:
1. $150,000 is available by approving an ordinance transferring and appropriating from the unobligated fund balance in the Water Capital Projects Fund (500592) into WO #01509303 (FY15 Utility Cuts- WTER) 63030 (Street Maintenance)
