Analysis
The city's library system currently has no computers designed for children or developing early literacy skills, so critical to creating a kids ready for Kindergarten. In December 2014, the city of Grand Prairie Libraries issued Request for Proposal #15055 to find a vendor who could provide digital learning stations for children ages 2-12. The computers are touch screen and offer a wide variety of educational tools based in reading, writing, science, math, art, play, creativity, singing and social skills in English and Spanish. The computers are not connected to the Internet for the safety of our children. A separate City Council agenda item will address the electrical and furniture that will be needed for these computers.
The purchase includes a three-year warranty with 24-hour replacement/repairs.
The library will actively and visibly promote this new product through GPISD, Pipeline, website, e-blasts, Life is Grand, news releases, Facebook, Twitter, posters, fliers, community relations and outreach.
