Analysis

Due to performance fees within the region and headline pricing, the expected fees for entertainment increased.  This year we are looking to contract with some of the strongest performers in the area to bring thousands into downtown Grand Prairie.

Since 2014, the festival has been honored with more than twenty one (21) state-wide awards and recognitions such as:  The #2 Best Festival in the State of Texas by the Texas Festivals and Events Association and received the 2016 Best Promotional Award by the Texas Recreation and Parks Society.

With the festivals continued success, record breaking attendance numbers year after year, and it's recent recognitions, the event is projected to bring in nationally recognized entertainers, such as:  Pat Green, for future years.

Total cost for this year's headline entertainer will be $70,000 for his performance and services associated with 2017 Main Street Fest.  This contract was executed within a small time frame due to entertainer's management company and its listed deposit deadlines and is being brought to City Council for ratification.

Financial Consideration

Funding for the contract in the amount of $70,000 is available in the Capital Reserve Fund (402590) WO #01712303 (FY 17 Parks).
