Analysis

The Commercial Water meter Renewal Program was identified as part of the FY 19 Capital Projects Budget and Capital Projects Plan for proposed water projects. 

 

The professional design project includes development of water meter assessment tool for evaluation of the City's 240 3-inch and larger Commercial water meters, design of guide or standard details for future large commercial water meter vaults and appurtenance requirements, implementation of Commercial water meter risk based assessment tool and coordination with City to develop annual renewal list based on assessment tool evaluation and prioritization, coordination with Third Party Evaluators, and development of guidelines for City to implement in future rehabilitation or replacement decisions of large commercial water meter vaults.

 

Design of this project is scheduled to begin in January 2019 with an estimated completion time around the end of October 2019.

 

This item was presented to the Finance and Government Committee on January 8, 2019.

 

Financial Consideration

Funding in the total amount of $200,000 is available in Water Capital Projects Budget (500592) W.O.#01911703 (FY19 Vault Replacement)
