Title
Ordinance amending Schedule VI of the Traffic Register by adding parking restrictions along all remaining SH 360 frontage roads within the City of Grand Prairie City limits with approval from TxDOT
Presenter
Walter Shumac, Director of Transportation Services
Recommended Action
Approve
Analysis
Transportation Services has received numerous complaints from area businesses and through GPPD about unsafe visibility along SH 360 frontage roads due to commercial truck parking. TxDOT will install No Parking sign bases and poles and the City will install the No Parking signs on SH 360 frontage road segments within City limits as agreed upon with the City of Grand Prairie and covered under City ordinance. This ordinance will solidify the parking restrictions and allow GPPD to perform targeted enforcement in these areas as signs are installed.
Council has previously approved Ordinance #7229 restricting parking on two segments of SH 360 frontage roads: Southbound along the west side from Carrier Parkway to Fountain Parkway; and Northbound along the east side from Post & Paddock Lane to Riverside Parkway. This ordinance will add to Ordinance #7229 in order to cover the whole of SH 360 frontage roads within the City of Grand Prairie city limits.
Financial Consideration
TxDOT will install the sign bases and poles using their standards along the frontage roads at the locations agreed upon with the City of Grand Prairie. Traffic Operations will install the No Parking signs. Funding for the costs associated with this adjustment is available in the FY 2015/2016 General Fund Budget, Signs and Markings Maintenance Budget, account 251910-63115.
