Analysis
The City’s Prairie Paws Adoption Center would like to apply for a grant of up to $5,000 from ASPCA to hold a Shelter Pet Adoption Event sponsored by ASPCA and made possible by Subaru Share the Love. The Adoption Event would be held December 13, 2014. The goal is to adopt out 100 animals. There are commitments from other agencies (rescues, shelters, vendors, etc.) to participate in the event.
The event will be an adoption event featuring various shelters with the main focus on animal adoption into responsible, forever homes.
Additionally, the event will also focus on animal awareness, pet education, responsible ownership and offer low cost spay/neuter and
vaccinations to the public.
Financial Consideration
Prairie Paws Adoption Center could receive up to $5,000 to hold the event and there is no required City match for this grant application.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF GRAND PRAIRIE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE FILING AND ACCEPTANCE IF SUCCESSFUL OF A GRANT APPLICATION WITH THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000 FOR A PET ADOPTION EVENT TO BE EFFECTIVE UPON ITS PASSAGE AND APPROVAL
Whereas, the ASPCA has invited the City to apply for a grant to host a pet adoption event; and
Whereas, it is the goal of the City to find responsible, forever homes for pets received at the Prairie Paws Adoption Center.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas that:
Section 1. The City Manager or his designee is authorized to accept, reject, alter or terminate this grant on behalf of the City Council.
